From the inaugural 1981 Memphis collection, this very popular design by Michele De Lucchi (one of the founding members of the design collective) implements a De Lucchi laminate design named "Terrific".
It is used on the base beneath its bright yellow lacquered tabletop, allowing a space between for books and magazines. Its anthropomorphic appearance was a much-repeated motif for De Lucchi during his early years with the collective.
